Hey OP. I recommend reading the book “emotional blackmail” by Susan Forward. In it she describes one case that is very very similar to yours. Her analysis of the situation and her tips might help you.
Otherwise I want to mention it is not your responsibility to manage her emotions. It is frankly unreasonably for her to get so upset and to punish you for spending time without her. It is unhealthy to isolate you so much and cut you off from your friends and other activities you enjoy.

I’ll consider this. Thing is maybe I thought we were together already. Don’t underestimate my ability to self sabotage or my naïveté at the time. It would astound you! I sort of didn’t leave the door open for him for the longest time because I guess I wanted a big grand gesture.

Yeah I definitely feel we jumped right in. Marriage is the goal but I essentially feel like we're playing house and already are married all of a sudden. It's a lit of change really quickly.
My husband and I are the same. He makes more than I do but it's our money because we live together and have children together and we are a unit. It's not a competition. I understand wanting separate accounts, but the majority of our income goes into a joint account. It does make it so much easier when you stop splitting things into yours and mine. It doesn't work for everyone and I'm not sure it would be right in your situation considering his views on money. But it might be worth a discussion.
