Out of curiosity,are you of Irish heritage? My husband and his mom have issues with gluten. His mom has full blown celiac disease and he has a recently discovered Graves disease (thyroid issue) . I don't know how to approach the situation and how to make it sound like I am not attacking her. Let's take a different example -> I have been asking her to use her headphones when working or listening to music during work hours. All she did was stare me down and tell me she doesn't like them, and I have been saying that for the past 4 months. I mean, we live! in a small open-space 1 bed apartment and when she does that I find it hot to concentrate on my work but she doesn't seem to mind. But god forbid I make a sound -> all hell breaks loose.
You bring up a good point that deserves some explanation, I didn’t have to move in with my mom, I chose to. I had been living an hour away from my hometown with roommates and my partner, I hated the city I was in and the roommates and was not going to stay there. I had planned on moving with my partner but it ended very quickly and I had less than a month to come up with a brand new plan, there was no time to find new roommates, and most of my friends have full houses or still live! with their parents. Staying with my mom is temporary until I figure out something better. It is also a way to save some money (no rent, high paying jobs) and was supposed to be almost vacation like, as it is beautiful here, I thought some stability and a beautiful mountain town would serve me well while I figured some things out. I still think it will be good for me, I am just disappointed in what feels like a lack of care on her part. I have not had a “nest” since I was 13, I am doing what is best for myself.
