With alcohol, he doesn't present as drunk. He's just more chatty. I noticed when it became obvious that he was self medicating when he went into his depression. It's possible he was dependent then, but it really wasn't obvious. A lot of people drink more than they should and don't develop dependency.. In terms of cocaine yes that was a complete shock, and i can't believe I had no idea.
